Abel is a high school student struggling to concentrate on his final exams while being hopelessly in love with Janka’s best friend. Because of the subject matter of the film, the Hungarian government did not grant funding for the film, so it had a small budget and crew.
This film was total garbage, it doesn’t know what it wants to be and to be honest, it just doesn’t make any sense at all – I say this as a Hungarian. However, there were a few scenes where I thought wow, okay, finally something happened, but the director decided to leave those threads as they are, without continuing them at all.
This poorly executed script could have been staged in less than an hour, but this slow and tragically bad acting often leads to painfully long dialogues and scenes. It had potential, they could have created some kind of comparison with the change of socialist regime in the past, but the terrible director let that thread disappear into the ether.
I would not recommend watching this garbage to anyone who loves movies.
